Response to BPA Competition
Yesterday we had our video competition at the Eastland Career Center. Overall we were not very nervous but we were confident in our presenting and our overall project. We entered into a random classroom after waiting on the mezzanine and there were two judges seated at the front of the room. A woman was also seated at a table in the back working with the timer to make sure we met the contest qualifications. We played our video which the judges seemed to enjoy. After we were done we opened the floor to any questions that they had.
The first question that was asked was what software we used to edit our video because the judge said from his experience with I-movie he understands that it can be limited in that of editing. They also asked what cameras we shot with and what angles we used to shoot. They continually told us how they understood the limitation of the equipment, and they told us we had a solid project for having to deal with those limitations. One of the big things they mentioned was how excited they were that we used lighting and how it added great effect to the project. They were also impressed with our matching outfits.
Next time we will try even harder to edit so that there are no big pauses between lines in the movie. We will also try to do a better job with our audio transitions and their placement because there were short pauses in between interviews and such. Overall though I was happy with our performance yesterday and hopefully we advance to states.
